Welcome to online communications at Uppingham Surgery.
A short promotional video I was commissioned for during a COVID lockdown.
Film
I have gained a deeper knowledge of Film through lectures and focussed on a small selection of roles within filmmaking that I have practical experience in. These roles include Directing, Producing, First Assistant Director, and Editing. Working with other crew members and actors has taught me, valuable people, skills, and how the process of filmmaking can differ on each production. During the Covid-19 pandemic, I attended webinars focussing on different specialised areas within the film industry to gain a greater understanding of filmmaking.
Photography
Photography was the gateway to film-making for me. I have a love for black and white photography, and this love has transferred into my filmmaking.
About
Since 2015 I have been an avid photographer, which later morphed into filmmaking.
I completed three years of studying Film Production at the University of Creative Arts (UCA) in 2020. Over that period of time, I gained experience in Directing, Producing, Editing, and being a First Assistant Director. This is where I found a love for documentary-making and shooting shorts showing life and nature.
Iβm committed and driven. I have a clear and growing understanding of the process of filmmaking and the planning skills to deliver assignments within set timeframes and to a high-quality standard to budget.
Iβm a sensible, reliable, empathetic, natural diplomat and a good team player who is currently building a career in film production and Iβm looking to find a company that I can work for to help grow their business whilst I take the next step in my career in film production.
Current Projects
I have created a podcast with a friend where we discuss and review films, both new releases and old-time classics. This podcast is called Films to Save the World.
Currently, our first series is focussing on the top 10 best films of all time, in our opinion. We are discussing ideas for future series.
Our podcast can be found on multiple streaming platforms such as Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Podcast and many more.
My path so farβ¦
2023:
Due to the cost of living crisis, I found a job in retail. Working in customer service, unloading the delivery, working the service counters, and being involved with two Christmas seasons, and all the pressures that come with it.
Films to Save the World released a couple more episodes over the year, and we have discussed future project ideas.
2022:
I secured myself a six-month contract at a video content agency from January to July. My role was Production Trainee, where I learned about the process of filming in the commercial world.
Creating schedules and call sheets, I have learned the importance of research and liaising with studios we have hired.
Other useful skills I have picked up have been researching travel restrictions (Covid) for filming outside the UK, finding and booking studios, flights, covid test centres, hotels, etc.
Towards the end of 2022, I co-created a Podcast, Films to Save the World. We released a few episodes during the last couple of months of the year.
2021:
I spent my time finding work where I could. I pursued personal projects, such as making a short documentary on a motorbike enthusiast and making a documentary on my grandfather who was an electrician in the RAF and an experienced carpenter.
I was also commissioned to deliver a brief Online promotional video for the NHS for a Doctorβs Surgery in Uppingham.
